Always a pleasure / some longform locations, for our reference when we think there’s nothing left to read: Narratively; Signature; The Toast; Medium; Longform / stone-cutting robot / serious architecture vs shallow architecture / the seven proposed bridges that could change the shape of London / restoring the Bonneville Salt Flats, the 300,000 acre Utah salt pan that has been a centre for land speed records for over a century. Which led us to the life of John Paul Stapp, briefly world’s fastest man but also human test subject and ‘inveterate collector of aphorisms and adages…. credited with being the popularizer, as well as of the author of the final form of the principle known as Murphy’s law, “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” Stapp is credited with creating Stapp’s Law (or Stapp’s Ironic Paradox) during his work on the project. It states “The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle.”‘
