High camp and low culture

My Ear-Trumpet Has Been Struck By Lightning, a tumblr / the USAFA Cadet Chapel by Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill, a high camp modernist classic, largely unvisited by non-military personnel / related, X-planes, a tumblr / The Norman Foster biography that isn’t. The critical knives are out for Sudjic’s new book, which seems to be a victim of ‘living subject syndrome’. Not a good selling point in an age of tell-all biographies.

Everyone seems to be talking about Apartamento, an ‘everday life interiors magazine’, which taps into the ‘unstyled’ aesthetic that is slowly gaining currency in architectural photography. Some architects seem better equipped at ‘letting go’ of the photographic representation of their work than others; Atelier Bow-Wow’s new monograph, Behaviorology, flits between the crisp serenity of the unlived in interior (with the occasional compliant client thrown in) and the rather more realistic chaos of life, burying the architecture beneath it.

Kon St, a weblog / two sites that are quite often nsfw, Dancergena, Fantomatik75 / The Lego Project, a personal investigation into creating an alternative Lego space universe / Star Forts from Above / Olympus E-PL1 augmented reality ad / MAS = MORE ‘is a space for more connection, more collaboration, more discovery and more design capacity’ / If San Francisco Crime were Elevation. Above, narcotics on the left, prostitution on the right.

The Wallpaper custom covers gallery is looking great / Ravenous, a food blog / Temporary Services / Oh Comely Magazine, launching soon / the recurring TV newspaper (via kottke), one of those insider jokes like the 555 area code or the Wilhelm Scream / a freakish interior installation / 5’o’clock Crows and Slowly She Turned, two more craft blogs / the knitted food of Kate Jenkins / Paper Jamz guitars, the link between Guitar Hero and real life / Mon Cabinet des Curiosites, a tumblr.
